




Harare, is the capital city of Zimbabwe and is the most populous city in the country. Before colonisation, the place was known as Harawa and it was ruled by Chief Neharawa of present day Seke area. The Pioneer Column, a small military force of the British South Africa Company, founded the city in 1890. It was named Fort Salisbury after the British Prime Minister Lord Salisbury and later renamed Harare on the second anniversary of Zimbabwean independence in 1982
