Highlights: Ramsar registered wetland area, Self Game Drives, Birding, HikingResort type: Self-catering Location: Nylsvley Conservancy (Waterberg)The conservancy provides sanctuary for some 72 mammal species, including a breeding herd of the rare Roan Antelope. In years of high rainfall as many as eighty thousand migratory water birds converge on the flood-plains, where up to 420 species have been identified.Of this number, 365 species were identified in the reserve itself. The reserve provides habitat to 37 Red-Data species, hence its significance as a RAMSAR site. Five modern bird-hides are located in the reserve.The prolific bird-life of the area makes it a great attraction for bird-lovers, researchers and tourists alike. It is not only the large numbers and many species of birds found in the reserve that attract tourists for a picnic or weekend, but also the six hundred plant species.There is a limited network of dirt roads for game-viewing, extensive walking and hiking, and mountain biking.In addition there are campsites for thirty people and picnic facilities.
