This clued-in place north of the city centre has a mix of African-style rondavels and airy stilt houses set around peaceful gardens, as well as a few overpriced ‘backpacker’ rooms across the road - discounts are sometimes available for volunteers. The restaurant (Tsh9000 to Tsh15,000) is recommended.
