The Slow Leopard’s Mwangaza Hideway sits above the inland waterways of Kilwa Masoko. The open plan design gives the dining room-lounge-bar area a relaxed and comfortable ambiance with the pool only a few steps away. Facing west, guests can enjoy cold drinks from the bar as the sun sinks across the waterways. From the bar, it is only a few steps into the pool or up to the dining room where our onsite chefs dish up tasty local and international cuisine..Kilwa was once the wealthiest Swahili city-state on mainland East Africa, playing host to some of the most influential traders of the 14th and 15th centuries. Today it is a laid back coastal town, steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking waters waiting to be discovered. The adjacent island of Kilwa Kisiwani is home to an ancient ruined city, listed as a World Heritage Site since 1981.Mwangaza Hideaway is the only lodge in Kilwa with an operating fleet of ocean going boats. We can organise trips to the ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Monaro as well as day trips for snorkelling or fishing. For more information check out the activities tab.SubmitclearAll right reserved.
