Pemba island is definitely off the beaten path compared to its sister island Zanzibar. There are relatively few hotels to stay in and most of them are very basic; that said there are a few high-end resorts. The attraction here is that Pemba is, by comparison to Zanzibar, very rural and unspoiled. That is definitely not going to appeal to everyone. One of the great attractions here is diving and snorkeling which is absolutely world class.The small beautiful Island is such unique place on earth and worth to go and see with your own eyes.Definition of an isolated location with minimal tourists. Authentic experience and place where the people are amazingly nice and the scenery is second to none. Pemba was by far the most beautiful diving I have ever done, and I am suspicious that it may be the most beautiful that I will ever do. While a lot of dive sites off the main island of Zanzibar have been destroyed due to dynamite fishing, this has not occurred off Pemba and it remains virgin and absolutely stunning. I would definitely recommend it to divers, and I would recommend diving with Swahili Divers who were extremely reasonably priced.
