Originally a gift from the British government after Ghana’s independence in 1957, the Ambassador Hotel was rebuilt in 2011 for Swiss chain Mövenpick. But you don’t need to stay at one of the 260 luxurious rooms to enjoy its premises. Jump into Accra’s largest pool (it’s so big that the waiters use inline skates to get around) for a small fee, or stop by the restaurant, gym, yoga studio, hairdresser and other shops that are open to everyone.
