Though this 16th-century European-style fortress is included on the Liste des Monuments et Sites Historiques Nationale du Maroc, it is disintegrating and filled with rubbish. Built on the ruins of an earlier fortress, it is perched on the edge of the medina. Nearby ramshackle tea stands overlook the port and estuary.
