If you’re just passing through Cairo Gateway bus station and need a meal, take a short walk to Hamada for exceptionally good kushari (mix of noodles, rice, black lentils, fried onions and tomato sauce). Turn right out the front of the bus station and then make a left at the first intersection; Hamada is on the right, midway down, with a red sign.
